2024 Masayuki Tokioka Excellence in School Leadership Award
Principal Kawahara was nominated for the 2024 Masayuki Tokioka Excellence in School Leadership Award as one of the best principals of the year!! Only a total of two principals were selected from the entire Honolulu District. Considering all the amazing achievements happening at KKS in the past few years, Principal Kawahara definitely deserves this special recognition.
HEALTHY HABITS AT HOME THAT HELP CHILDREN SUCCEED AT SCHOOL
A local pediatrician recommends:
12 hours of sleep per night for elementary students. (10hr for middle school & 8hr for high school students).
60 minutes of vigorous exercise 3-6 days a week…although every day would be best
Screen time should be limited & kids should be off screens at least an hour before bed
DAILY WELLNESS CHECK AT HOME
Minimizing the spread of illness begins at home. Students, parents, staff, family members, and campus visitors should be checking for symptoms prior to coming to campus:
If anyone planning to come to campus has any of the following symptoms, please stay home and do not come to campus:
Fever (100℉ or higher)
Headache
Chills
New loss of taste or smell
Cough
Sore throat
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Congestion or runny nose
Fatigue (tiredness, weakness)
Muscle or body aches
Nausea or vomiting (stomach ache)
Diarrhea
It was an honor to have these amazing artists from World Wide Walls come to our school, to paint these stunning artworks.
